Long term intentions

Howard’s wood will be managed towards a predominantly native species broadleaf high forest with a varied age and size structure, understorey and ground flora. Felled, fallen and broken trees will be retained to form deadwood habitat. This will help meet the Trusts objectives to create new native woodland and enhance woodland biodiversity and will also compliment the conservation values of the adjacent woodland and enhance the amenity and aesthetic values of the wood in the landscape and to visitors. The paths and entrance facilities will be managed annually as required to maintain the levels of access already present and in line with its access category C.
