Eynsham Wood - Eynsham
Long term intentions
The Trust's corporate objective of increasing new native woodland has been achieved by the establishment of broadleaved woodland on this previously arable site. The trees will be weeded for at least the first three years and any losses replaced. If it is necessary to control arable weeds, inter-row mowing will be carried out. Within the first ten years the guards will be removed when rabbits are no longer a threat. Any deer damage to the young trees will be monitored. In the long term the majority of the woodland will be managed as minimal intervention high forest.
In order to increase public enjoyment of the site the paths and glades will be kept mown throughout the summer months and features such as entrances, gates, fencing, signs, seats and the information board will be maintained to a high standard.
To improve the biodiversity of the site the boundary hedgerows will be managed as tall bushy features with pollarded boundary oaks along the northern and eastern boundaries. An area in the north-eastern corner will be designated as a minimal intervention area for long term retention.
