Long term intentions

The main objective at the site will be to maintain and enhance the ancient semi natural woodland habitat by:

- encouraging the development of woodland comprised of predominately native trees and shrubs ( including mature coppice stools of mainly oak) and maintaining the existing diverse ground layer, with sycamore maintained at a level where it neither dominates or significantly supresses underlying vegetation.A desirable balance between native species and invasive non-native sycamore will be achieved through periodic light thinning to favour native species.

- the dead wood habitat will increase over time and will be enhanced through thinning to waste operations.

All paths will be maintained and improved where necessary to take into account the increase in numbers of visitors to the site.
