Alex Wood - Ormskirk
Long term intentions
The wood will be managed as high forest of mixed broadleaves, including non-native trees common to the local area. It will be managed predominantly as a landscape and conservation feature, through minimal intervention. Gaps created in the canopy due to senescence and tree safety operations and removal of rhododendron from the shrub layer will create ample space for regeneration.
The old oak will be retained and conserved as it is becoming a veteran tree. If unsafe, tree surgery should be considered rather than felling. Halo thinning around it may also be necessary to maintain sufficient light.
Public Access will be maintained at its current level at least, with one entrance and path leading to the wood.
